Olympic Men's Volleyball Rules

Court Dimensions
The volleyball court is 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, with a net height of 2.43 meters for men's competition.

Teams and Substitutions

Each team consists of 12 players, with 6 players on the court at a time.

Teams are allowed 6 substitutions per set.

Scoring System

Matches are played best-of-five sets to 25 points.

A team must win by 2 clear points.

If the match goes to a deciding 5th set, it is played to 15 points.

Rotation and Serving

Teams rotate clockwise each time they win the right to serve.

The server must hit the ball within 8 seconds of the referee's signal.

The server cannot step on or over the service line when serving.

Contacts and Faults

Each team is allowed a maximum of 3 contacts to return the ball.

It is a fault if a player contacts the ball more than 3 times, or if the ball touches the court surface.

Lifting, carrying, or double contacts of the ball are also considered faults.

Net Play

Players cannot touch the net at any time during play.

Reaching over the net to block or attack the ball is allowed, as long as interference with the opponent does not occur.

Rally and Point Scoring

A rally begins with the serve and continues until the ball touches the ground or a fault is committed.

A point is awarded to a team when the opposing team commits a fault or is unable to return the ball.
